Naturopathic Care
Perimenopause & Menopause
Perimenopause doesn't always start with hot flashes. It often starts quietly, and it can last a decade. You don't have to white-knuckle through it.

The opening conversation
Perimenopause does not always look the way you expect it to. It does not always start with hot flashes. For many women it starts quietly, with sleep that suddenly stops working, a mood that feels harder to manage, cycles that are longer or shorter or heavier than they used to be, and a brain fog that makes you feel like you are losing your edge. You might be in your early 40s and have no idea that what you are experiencing is the beginning of a hormonal transition that can last a decade or more.
This is one of the most underdiagnosed and underdiscussed transitions in women's health, and it is one of the areas I am most passionate about supporting.
You do not have to white-knuckle your way through this. You do not have to accept feeling this way as inevitable. And you absolutely do not have to figure it out alone from Instagram posts and podcasts. There is a better way.
What I can help with
Every woman's experience is different but common symptoms include irregular cycles including cycles that are longer, shorter, heavier, or more unpredictable than before, heavy bleeding, hot flashes and night sweats, disrupted sleep and insomnia, brain fog and difficulty concentrating, mood changes including anxiety, irritability, and low mood, weight gain particularly around the abdomen, low energy and fatigue, low libido, vaginal dryness, joint pain, and hair thinning.
Many of these symptoms overlap with thyroid dysfunction, cortisol dysregulation, and insulin resistance, which is why a thorough assessment that looks at the full hormonal picture is so important.

How I approach
Perimenopause & Menopause

Using the Hormone Cornerstone Method I assess your hormonal transition in the context of your full health picture. Perimenopause is not just about declining estrogen and progesterone. It is about how those changes interact with your cortisol, your thyroid, your insulin, your gut health, and your nervous system all at once.
Through comprehensive blood work, a thorough symptom assessment, and an honest collaborative conversation about your options, I build a personalized plan that may include dietary and lifestyle strategies, targeted supplementation, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and hormone replacement therapy when appropriate.
As a Naturopathic Doctor in Ontario I hold prescribing rights including for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. This means I can have a full and informed conversation about HRT with you, including the latest research, who it is appropriate for, and whether it makes sense for your body, without dismissing your concerns or pushing you in any direction.

Perimenopause is the transitional phase leading up to menopause, during which hormone levels fluctuate and symptoms are often most intense. Menopause itself is a single point in time, defined as twelve months without a menstrual period. Post-menopause refers to the years that follow. Naturopathic support is valuable at every stage.
The perimenopausal transition typically lasts between four and ten years before menopause, which is defined as twelve consecutive months without a period. The duration and intensity of symptoms varies significantly from person to person, which is why a personalized approach matters so much.
Perimenopause can begin in the early 40s and in some cases even the late 30s. Unfortunately it is frequently dismissed or misdiagnosed, particularly when symptoms do not fit the textbook picture. If you feel something has shifted hormonally and you are not getting answers, I am happy to investigate further with you.
Yes. As a Naturopathic Doctor in Ontario I hold prescribing rights including for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. This is discussed thoroughly and collaboratively and never pushed on anyone. It is simply one more tool available to us when it makes sense for your situation.
The conversation around HRT has evolved significantly in recent years. Current research supports the safety and benefits of hormone replacement therapy for most women when initiated at the right time and with the right formulation. We discuss the full landscape of evidence, your personal health history, and your individual risk factors together so you can make an informed decision that feels right for you.
Blood work alone cannot confirm perimenopause, but it is an important part of the picture. Hormonal panels, thyroid markers, and other testing help us understand what is driving your symptoms and rule out other contributing factors like thyroid dysfunction or nutrient deficiencies that can mimic or worsen perimenopause symptoms.
Perimenopause is a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms and age rather than a single blood test. Common early signs include changes in your cycle length or flow, new or worsening PMS, disrupted sleep, mood changes, and brain fog. If you are in your 40s and noticing these shifts, perimenopause is worth exploring even if your doctor has not raised it.
